Meet in Columbus. W hen the Greater Columbus Convention Cen- ter (GCCC) completed its $140-million reno- vation and expansion, the facility became one of the largest convention centers in its com- petitive set, based on its 373,000 sf of contig- uous exhibit space. The Hilton Columbus Downtown is currently undergoing a 468-room expansion, slated to open in fall 2022, making it a 1,000-room property and the largest hotel in Ohio. When the expansion wraps, the Hilton will have a brand-new tower adjacent to the convention center with 75,000 sf of meeting space, topped with a rooftop event space and “open fire” restau- rant and bar. The project, which will build on the hotel’s existing contemporary design, will create a seamless attendee experience between the two buildings. The Hyatt Regency Columbus is also undergoing a renovation of its 633 connected guest rooms and offers 70,000 sf of meet- ings space. Other recently opened or renovated hotels in the area include the Canopy by Hilton, Moxy Columbus, Graduate Colum- bus, AC Hotel by Marriott and Sonesta Columbus, totaling more than 5,000 rooms downtown, 2,700 of which are connected or adjacent to the GCCC. It features a new 177-room Aloft hotel, eight movie the- aters with a capacity of 800, the Coca Cola Music Hall, a central plaza with a 4K horizontal display — the largest in the hemi- sphere — an indoor zip line, restaurants and other amenities. With more than 600,000 sf of total space, the PRCC fea- tures an Exhibition Hall that can seat nearly 17,000, and a ball- room that can accommodate more than 4,000.
