For those who haven’t hosted in Philadelphia recently, the Pennsylvania Convention Center (PCC) is a whole new experience. And they’re seeing strong positive feedback. In 2022, survey scores indicated an overall satisfaction rating of 86%, with event management leading the way with a 98% satisfaction rating. Here’s what’s new for planners in Philly:

Over the past three years, PCC has made $30 million of improvements to the energy efficiency and sustainability of the facility, as well as enhancing the overall air quality, resulting in two consecutive years of Global Biorisk Advisory Council (GBAC) Star accreditation. Their partnership with Siemens resulted in an ESCO (Energy Savings Company) project, resulting in reduced carbon footprint and $14 million in cumulative energy savings.

PCC spearheads PHL Cares, a business-led initiative that is investing in ways to end homelessness in Philadelphia. Since 2019, they’ve raised over $1 million.

This year, the Pennsylvania Convention Center Authority and ASM Global welcomed industry veteran Tony Hodgins as new general manager of the facility.

The HIAT Fund initiative, believed to be the only one of its kind in the country, is dedicated to expanding and building upon existing training programs in the areas of safety, development of technical skills, and customer-service and hospitality. The HIAT Fund will support enhanced training opportunities focused in three general categories: safety, skills, and hospitality.
