According to Reuters, the Biden administration does not plan on relaxing travel restrictions right now due to the COVID-19 Delta variant and, when they do, they plan on having a new system for international travel that will include collecting contact tracing data from passengers traveling into the United States. There is some fear by some industry officials that travel restrictions will not be lifted for months or maybe even until next year.
It was White House coronavirus response coordinator Jeff Zients who presented information on this updated plan to the U.S. Travel and Tourism Advisory Board on September 15. He said that the American people need to trust that the system is safer, adding that they are thinking about vaccine requirements for foreign nationals traveling into the country too.
