South Shore Harbour Resort Completes Renovation

South Shore Harbour Resort and Conference Center, the largest full-service waterfront resort hotel and conference center in Southeast Texas, July 14 announced the completion of a multimillion-dollar renovation that began in November 2015.
This refresh, the first comprehensive update of the property since it opened in 1988, encompasses the entire hotel: all guest rooms and suites; public spaces including the pool area, hotel restaurant, lobby and lobby bar; and its 25,000 sf of conference space. Other improvements include a new air conditioning system and LED energy-efficient lighting throughout.
More than half of the 238 guest rooms and many of the function spaces at South Shore Harbour Resort and Conference Center afford marina views, and the renovation pays homage to the hotel’s natural surroundings by introducing marine elements to the interior.
New design details carry through from the new, welcoming porte cochere and airy lobby to the common areas, including the Lighthouse Bar & Bistro, offering panoramic views of the water and a menu of locally sourced delicacies; Paradise Reef, the hotel restaurant, with refreshed furniture and window treatments; and the completely reimagined Oasis Pool. More than $1 million was invested in the hotel’s iconic marina-side pool and deck, which has been improved with new landscaping, lighting, chic lounge seating, water features, a swim-up cocktail bar and cabanas.
All guest rooms and the hotel’s two 1,200-sf bi-level penthouse suites have been upgraded with plush bedding and contemporary furnishings. Among the room appointments are a 43-inch television, mini-refrigerator, coffeemaker, in-room safe, comfortable seating, signature porthole wall art, new balcony furniture and oversized marble desks. Updates to guest bathrooms include new decorative mirrors, contemporary lighting and upgraded linens and amenities.
The South Shore Harbour Resort and Conference Center features 25,000 sf of meeting space including an 8,800-sf ballroom, 80-seat amphitheater training center, boardroom, meeting suites and flexible event spaces, several with water views. All meeting facilities have been refreshed with new carpeting, furnishings, lighting and painting.
The complex is conveniently located halfway between Houston and Galveston near the Bay Area’s primary leisure attractions such as Space Center Houston and the Kemah Boardwalk offers guests access to a neighboring 27-hole golf course, an adjacent 130,000-sf state-of-the-art fitness center and spa, tennis courts and free, ample parking.
