Located in northwest Louisiana, Shreveport-Bossier has no shortage of group-friendly attractions. The sister cities offer groups six riverboat casinos, horse racing, riverfront entertainment, mouthwatering cuisine and shopping at Louisiana Boardwalk Outlets. New restaurants and attractions are opening on a regular basis in Shreveport-Bossier. Below are a few new additions to the growing list of group-friendly things to see, do, taste and experience around town.
Laugh Out Loud Comedy Club is the latest addition to Shreveport-Bossier’s bustling nightlife scene. The club opened in May 2019 and is located on the riverfront in downtown Shreveport. The venue spotlights local comedians as well as sidesplitting national headliners with nightly performances.
In August of 2019, Shreveport Hilton property embarked on a $4.8 million-dollar renovation building in both public and guest room space. The hotel is located in the heart of downtown Shreveport and is connected to the 350,000-square-foot Shreveport Convention Center. With this renovation, travelers may now experience a brand new guest room product, the conversion of tubs to showers in king rooms, the addition of a 12th-floor executive lounge, and cosmetic updates to meeting rooms and public spaces. The bar area was expanded to accommodate up to 104 guests and the Market 104 Restaurant received a major facelift that brightens up the area and offers a more appealing atmosphere for such events as corporate meetings, wedding receptions and family reunions. Caddo Common Park, which opened in November 2019, is a newly revitalized park located in the Shreveport Common District in the west edge of downtown Shreveport.
At the heart of Shreveport Common is a 2.4-acre community greenspace called Caddo Common Park with walking paths, a food truck court, and regularly scheduled cultural programming overseen by Shreveport Regional Arts Council.Chef Hardette Harris created the Official Meal of North Louisiana – only the second official meal in the U.S. – in 2015. Since then, she has become a leading proponent of traditional North Louisiana cuisine. At her new restaurant Us Up North Kitchen, which opened in August 2019, she serves up exemplary fried catfish, barbecue, and more.
David Bridges is the chef and co-owner at Sauvage, which opened in November 2019. Chef Bridges approaches traditional southern comfort foods with a fine-dining chef’s attention to detail. His outstanding fried chicken and biscuits are the product of more than 10 years of recipe development. Bridges’ wife and pastry chef, Stephanie, creates unforgettable versions of popular regional desserts.
Ralph’s Place, a new breakfast and lunch eatery, opened in January 2020 in the historic Highland neighborhood. The restaurant is owned by Robert “Bozz” Baucum, the head chef and owner of Marilynn’s Place. Ralph’s Place is named after Baucum’s father, the late Dr. Ralph Baucum. The menu features traditional American breakfast and lunch sandwiches and entrees, as well as a few Cajun-inspired options.
