Louisville’s Legendary Galt House Hotel Debuts Reimagined Ballroom

The Galt House Hotel is pleased to announce the completion of the fully re-imagined, 15,412 square foot Archibald Cochran Ballroom amidst its $80 million property-wide renovation project. With a capacity of up to 1,700 guests and new state-of-the-art audio-visual technology, the reopening of the ballroom marks a milestone for the hotel’s West Tower meeting and event spaces which includes 7 renovated meeting spaces totaling 22,816 square feet.
To honor Louisville’s rich history, the ballroom was named after local visionary Archibald Cochran Jr., who, together with Al Schneider, led the “waterfront renaissance” that inspired The Galt House Hotel’s iconic location on the Ohio River. Nearly five decades later, the renovated namesake ballroom welcomes groups to enjoy Archibald Cochran Jr.’s vision from a dedicated outdoor balcony overlooking the Ohio River.

The Archibald Cochran Ballroom is located in the hotel’s West Tower, which is slated for final completion in February 2020. Renovations to the West Tower include a full overhaul of 22,816 square feet of meeting space, all 639 guest rooms, the lobby area, and three of the hotel’s restaurant and bar concepts. In November 2019, the brand new Walker’s Exchange restaurant debuted, followed closely by the reopening of Jockey Silks, one of Louisville’s oldest bourbon bars and an original stop on the Urban Bourbon Trail. On April 24, 2020, the Galt House will celebrate the opening of Swizzle, a sexy and social supper club-style restaurant with revolving platforms on the West Tower’s 25th floor.
