The InterContinental Miami is celebrating 40 years on Biscayne Bay. The property is renowned for its exterior LED Canvas, spacious luxury rooms and suites, and award-winning dining. The hotel also houses Freddy’s, a 1920s themed speakeasy; mySpa and wellness options; arts programming and other amenities. They offer 135,000 sf of meeting and event space.
From its original design in 1983 by Pietro Belucci and the installation of Henry Moore’s Spindle sculpture, to its present-day status as Miami’s luxury downtown legend, InterContinental Miami has been tied to the Magic City’s growth and ascendance as an international destination for more than just fun in the sun over the past four decades.
The property has just completed a multi-million-dollar refresh which saw significant upgrades to the 652 rooms and suites and an expansion of the Club Lounge.
Most notable are the 22 suites which just came on line with new furnishings, bathrooms and other amenities. Suites range in size from 400 to 3,300-square-feet and feature whimsical decor that mirrors their magnificent ocean views; with the exquisite Royal and Presidential Suites, perched on the 34th floor. Inspired by the hotel’s modern architecture and its expansive views of the historic Port of Miami, these exquisite sky top residences boast dramatic two-story windows of glass that look out across the water with views of the Port, Miami Beach and beyond.
Perfect for entertaining, the public areas of these two suites consist of a large living area that opens into a separate dining room seating eight guests; served by a large kitchenette suitable for catering. Marble floors throughout the entertaining spaces are covered with custom area rugs while a light bright color palette with rich materials of oak and bronze create a modern mix. Fabrics are luxe, punctuated with saturated blues inspired by the view. A curated art program made up largely of local Miami artists, infuses these spectacular suites with colors and textures that celebrate the location and local culture. Bedrooms are a soft peaceful oasis for guests to retreat to after work or play. The Primary Bedroom is accessed off the main living area on the ground floor with a king-size canopy bed upholstered in embossed leather and an ensuite 5-fixture bath with freestanding soaking tub and large glass shower. Upstairs there are 2 additional bedrooms, each with its own bath as well as the option for a 3rd bedroom lock-off. Wilton wool carpets cover the bedroom floors with a soothing palette of creams, grays and punctuated with saturated blues and soft blush. The second level also features a private exercise room with Tonal Home Gym™. The ultimate in luxury living high above Miami.
The elevated Club Lounge, which is found on the 29th floor, has doubled in size to 3,000-square-feet and provides complimentary buffet breakfast, afternoon tea and evening cocktails & hors d’oeuvres for guests staying in Club Lounge Rooms.
In celebration of the 40th anniversary, the hotel is offering a number of specials and enhancements. DayLife Cabanas, a completely re-envisioned pool deck adjacent to the property’s majestic 5th floor SkyLawn offers guests access to an enhanced pool bar experience at the rooftop pool oasis along with seven new private ocean view cabanas – one of which is an oversized outdoor cabana with an outdoor terrace. All of the cabanas are outfitted with luxury amenities and feature personalized service in addition to TVs, ceiling fans, mini-fridges and sun loungers.
