Classic now meets cool as the historic 1,544-room Hilton Chicago, on Michigan Avenue across from Grant Park, announces the completion of a $7 million renovation.
The newest revamp enhances the third-floor meeting spaces and Salon C in the Stevens Meeting Center, leading to the finalization of an all-encompassing $150 million renovation and restoration initiative.
Recognized as one of the city’s most revered addresses since 1927, Hilton Chicago continues to celebrate its storied past by blending the hotel’s classic architecture with a new contemporary style as it celebrates its 90th anniversary. Conceptualized by Looney & Associates, the newly debuted design was inspired by Chicago’s founding motto, Urbs in Horto, which translates to City in a Garden.
The renovation brings a full transformation to the third floor, which is home to seven separate meeting rooms ideal for organic networking of small meetings to medium sized conferences accommodating up to 850 guests. Designed with a cool color palette, the interior décor is inspired by Lake Michigan incorporating shades of purple and blue in bold, geometric patterns. Grand Waldorf chandeliers and modern pendants adorn the renovated spaces, adding depth and classic sophistication with a balance of style throughout the third floor. The new aesthetic continues into the outer corridors with details such as striking blue carpeting, dramatic lighting fixtures and sleek grey and gold armchairs to modernize the community space.
Spanning over 28,000 sf, Salon C is one of four meeting rooms in the 119,000-sf Stevens Meeting Center. Conceptualized to be utilized as one large room or six separate spaces, the versatile area has been fully revitalized using a warm red and gold palette. The meeting room incorporates a bold floral carpet, sleek white armchairs, suspended ceilings, graphic column screen accents and new, soundproof HufCor Movable Walls.
The property completed a renovation of its 10,080-sf Continental Ballroom, bringing contemporary touches with cool blue and grey hues complemented with lighting that provides the best balance of illumination. With a capacity of up to 1,350 guests, the flexible reception area can double as registration and reception.
Other notable renovations totaling $150 million include 600 accommodations featuring two beds and two bathrooms, 13 specialty suites that each have an individual aesthetic and design, and a $1.8 million restoration of the 5,000-sf Conrad Hilton Suite, the largest suite in the Midwest. Additionally, the property features a newly revamped, fully furnished sun deck adjacent to the pool, complete with outdoor daybeds, lounge chairs and views of the cityscape.
In celebration of the renovation and its 90th anniversary this year, the landmark property is featuring special $90 rates over various dates and a new small meetings package for groups of 90 or less. For ease of booking at a per-person price, the package includes a 25 percent discount on catering selections from award-winning Executive Chef Mario Garcia, who leads the charge in sustainable cuisine by utilizing locally-sourced ingredients for a farm-to-table experience. Groups receive reduced pricing for audio visual, Wi-Fi and electrical requirements.
Home to one of the largest ballrooms in the city, Hilton Chicago offers 234,000 sf of versatile meeting space including distinguished executive board rooms spanning 260 sf to 697 sf, smaller breakout spaces ranging between 960 sf and 2,976 sf, and multiple office spaces sized between 228 sf and 697 sf. In efforts to elevate the service of groups, an elevator bank of 14 separate cabs expedites the transition between meeting rooms for a seamless experience.
