Foxwoods Achieves Green Lodging Distinction

February 3, 2015

Foxwoods Resort CasinoThe Hotel Group at Foxwoods Resort Casino, the largest resort casino in North America, has been certified as a Connecticut Green Lodging Facility and designated by AAA as an eco-friendly property. The Hotel Group includes the Fox Tower, Grand Pequot Tower, Great Cedar and Two Trees Inn.

The certification, which was granted by the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, is a self-certification program based on accumulating points associated with environmental practices such as water conservation, energy usage, kitchen and utility, and property initiatives. The points are documented in the Connecticut Green Lodging Self-Certification Workbook.

“At Foxwoods, we take great pride in developing a ‘green’ business and are honored to receive this designation,” said Jason Guyot, V.P. of resort operations and development, Foxwoods Resort Casino. “We will continue to implement safe environmental practices that improve our business and create a healthier environment for our guests and valued employees.”

Each Connecticut Green Lodging Facility receives a special icon in the annual Connecticut Visitors guide and a listing on the Connecticut Office of Tourism and the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection websites, which identifies each business as a Connecticut Green Lodging Facility. Additionally, each certified facility also receives free on-going technical assistance from the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection on how to continue to reduce environmental impacts while saving money.
