March 3, 2022

Bishop-Mccann-700pxEffective March 1, Bishop-McCann, a worldwide leader in the meetings, incentives and events industry, will acquire ONYX, a meetings and events company that provides high-touch planning and event services for corporate clients. Founded in 2003, ONYX is a leader in delivering excellence in meetings and incentives for clients in the pharmaceutical, casual dining, travel and leisure, financial and manufacturing industries. This acquisition positions Bishop-McCann to increase its activity in the incentive travel industry.

Both companies are headquartered in the Kansas City area. Bishop-McCann retains a network of employees and suppliers around the world, with an additional office in Chicago. Bishop-McCann President and CEO, Rob Adams, will continue to lead the company. Adams serves on the Meetings Professional International (MPI) Board of Trustees, the world’s largest meetings and events industry association and was named one of the Top 25 Influencers in the meetings and events industry in 2019. For the past 14 years, MeetingsNet has named Bishop-McCann to its CMI 25 list, which highlights the largest and most influential corporate, full-service meeting and incentive travel management companies in North America.

“This acquisition allows us to continue providing value for our clients, especially by offering increased incentive travel services,” said Adams. “The workforce is changing, and we are laser focused on retaining the best and the brightest in our industry. We’re thrilled to welcome the ONYX team to Bishop-McCann as we deliver on our mission of creating JOY.”

ONYX’s President, DJ Rand added, “ONYX has built a strong reputation in the industry, and we are well respected among our clients for being highly collaborative and focused on integrity and trust while delivering excellence in every element of each meeting, event or incentive. This philosophy is central to the culture at Bishop-McCann, making this a natural fit. Relationships matter in this industry, and we’re excited to enter into this new relationship with Bishop-McCann to continue exceeding client expectations and delivering value.”

“Our top priority is to bring more innovation, creativity and collaboration to our clients,” said Amber Heintz, VP Program Operations. “That’s why this acquisition is a good fit for both Bishop-McCann and ONYX, with our clients reaping the benefits.”

This is the second acquisition in two years for Bishop-McCann. In 2020, Bishop-McCann acquired the meetings and events division of Kansas City-based ASE Group, Inc.
