The Westin Washington, DC City Center announced today the completion of its $17 million enhancement of the 406-room property. Located in downtown Washington, DC, just blocks from the White House and the K Street corridor, the hotel has made significant upgrades to its guest rooms, restaurant, lobby and meeting facilities.
“The Westin brand promotes well-being, and the enhancements we’ve made to this DC property are designed to inspire successful travel, work, meeting and vacation experiences,” said Patty Connolly, general manager. “This project coincides with the exciting revitalization of the 14th Street corridor in Washington, DC. Our hotel, much like this city, has a storied past and we are looking forward to embracing an exciting new future. The striking redesign blended with our prime location is sure to make the Westin Washington, DC City Center the most desirable hotel in the nation’s capital.”
Each guest room and suite at the hotel features newly remodeled bathrooms, fresh guest room soft goods, 50-inch LED TVs, refrigerators and safes. Guest rooms also feature the Westin Heavenly Bed and Heavenly Bath amenities. All guest rooms feature wireless high-speed Internet access. The hotel also has The Westin brand’s signature SuperFoodsR menu, which includes nutrient-rich and delicious options.
The hotel’s transformation also includes a new look and feel to 17,500 sf of versatile meeting and banquet space. Catering, event planning services and meetings technology were enhanced. The hotel also offers Tangent at Westin, a workspace concept that meets the changing needs of today’s mobile business travelers and small workgroups.
Located off the lobby, Fringetree, the onsite restaurant and lounge, offers traditional dishes, as well as creations that encompass Westin’s SuperFoods concept. A full-service dining outlet, Fringetree also offers an adjoining Grab-and-Go counter serving Starbucks coffee, breakfast sandwiches and light fare.
The new lobby concept incorporates natural elements, vertical gardens, flexible and functional seating. The Vertical Garden is a unique focal element of the new Westin lobby concept designed to improve indoor air quality and create a calming, more natural environment. The new Westin check-in pods replace the traditional hotel check-in desk and are ergonomically designed with work surfaces at optimum heights and a more spacious, personal guest interaction area.
