February U.S. group meetings volume increased 109.7% and the Daytona Beach area placed in the top five growth markets in the U.S. according to Knowland, a provider of market data for hotels, convention and visitor bureaus, conference centers and other meeting venues.
Other markets rounding out the top five are Boston, MA, Columbus, OH, Philadelphia, PA, and Milwaukee, WI. The meeting markets studied include associations, corporate, government, SMERF (social, military, education, religious and fraternal) and wedding.
“This is a result of the meetings and events communities working toward a common goal – to bring new, repeat, and rebooked business to our destination,” said Linda McMahon, group sales director with the Daytona Beach Area Convention and Visitors Bureau.
“It takes everyone working together collectively – the Ocean Center convention complex, hotels, meeting venues and attractions – to reach this type of recognition. We see a lot of growth potential and success on the horizon for Daytona Beach,” said McMahon.
The Daytona Beach Area Convention and Visitors Bureau works closely with all area hotels and venues with meeting space, as well as the Ocean Center convention complex, to keep Daytona Beach top of mind with meeting planners, identify potential group business, host site visits, and make connections with resources within the community to help them hold a successful meeting.
