The visiting group, composed by the players plus the team’s coaching and management staff, visited the resort for their CONCACAF League quarterfinals match, which was held in Santo Domingo on December 1, 2020. To acclimatize, the team decided to stay previously at the all-inclusive Barceló Bávaro Grand Resort, located in the well-known area of Punta Cana. It is not the first time that Canadian League teams have stayed at the resort, since this January Barceló Bávaro Grand Resort already hosted the FIFPRO Tournament, in which 3 Canadian teams participated.

The primary reason for the team’s choice was the splendid natural grass soccer field located on property of the most comprehensive all-inclusive resort in the Dominican Republic, which is positioned a few meters walking distance from the stylish accommodations. The team trained several times a day, even on rainy days, as the field was still in perfect condition.

Pedro Pascual, the Resort’s Associate Director of Sales, highlighted “Our compliance with protocols such as the use of masks by the staff, constant disinfection of the areas, besides offering a private room for all team meals, ensured a safe environment”.

During the team’s stay, the annual CPL gala was taking place concurrently, 3 members of the team were nominated for best goalkeeper, best player and best coach, of which 2 of them won. The resort was able to project the live gala during one of the dinners to ensure the monumental moment could be celebrated and gifted the winners a present to mark the occasion.

Barceló Bávaro Grand Resort continues to promote sports groups by offering facilities that meet their unique requirements and packages of special services to ensure teams feel at home.
