Sea Island, a Forbes Five Star resort on the coast of Georgia, announces the completion of a $40 million expansion project at The Cloister that includes a new Garden Wing comprising 63 new guest rooms and a 5,000-sf ballroom. These new additions debut as Sea Island celebrates the 10th anniversary of the opening of the completely rebuilt Cloister in April 2006.
Just south of The Cloister Chapel and across a landscaped garden from the existing South Wing, the new Garden Wing reflects the signature Addison Mizner Mediterranean design seen throughout Sea Island. The new guest rooms average 560 sf, each uniquely designed, featuring lustrous wood furnishings, exposed beam ceilings, overstuffed chairs, plank oak hardwood floors, Carrara marble bathrooms and showers, and handcrafted rugs. With the addition of the Garden Wing, The Cloister now offers 267 elegant accommodations, all showcasing the hotel’s natural setting and centrally located to the resort’s full spectrum of amenities and activities, including the Spa at Sea Island, The Beach Club, Sea Island Yacht Club and multiple, distinct dining venues.
In November 2015, Sea Island unveiled the 5,000-sf Mizner Ballroom in The Cloister’s main building. The multifunctional addition complements the existing ballroom at The Cloister, and brings added meeting space for private conferences, executive retreats, receptions, dinners and meetings. With 51,000 total sf of flexible, high-tech indoor and outdoor event space overlooking the Georgia coastline, the expansion further positions the resort as an unparalleled choice for business functions of distinction.
