Borgata Announces $50 Million Makeover

January 27, 2016

borgata-400The Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa, Atlantic City’s market-leading resort destination, has announced plans to invest more than $50 million into the improvement of its property throughout 2016.

Borgata will commit significant capital investment across a broad range of projects including the launch of its new nightlife experience, Premier Nightclub; a new fine-dining concept with chef/partner Michael Symon; 25,000 sf of meeting and convention space and a new outdoor pool. Furthermore, Borgata will partner with Siganos Management Inc. on a transformation of The Cafeteria Food Court into a new casual eatery.

Last month Borgata unveiled plans for its nightlife experience, Premier Nightclub. Designed by Josh Held (Marquee NYC; TAO Las Vegas; Voyeur Los Angeles), the 18,000-sf venue will reignite the Atlantic City nightlife scene with its spring 2016 debut.

Borgata also recently announced the addition of celebrated chef Michael Symon (Lola Bistro, Lolita, Roast) to its fine dining roster. With the debut of his new Borgata signature restaurant, Symon joins fellow Iron Chefs Bobby Flay and Geoffrey Zakarian, as well as legendary chef Wolfgang Puck in an unprecedented and star-studded culinary lineup.

Borgata’s outdoor pool and entertainment grounds venue features more than 400 chaise lounges, daybeds and cabanas, a full-service canopied bar, entertainment stage, and a variety of lawn games and activities, all centered on a 3,200-sf Roman-style pool. The 1,000-capacity space will seamlessly transform from hotel-pool to entertainment hotspot throughout the course of the summer, offering something for just about everyone. (Click here.)

In addition to the outdoor pool, Borgata will partner with restaurateur and real estate developer George Siganos this spring to unveil The Marketplace Eatery — a casual dining experience located below Borgata’s Poker Room and The Racebook. Supplanting the space currently occupied by The Cafeteria, The Marketplace will offer an array of fresh, quick-service fare in an inviting and inclusive atmosphere reminiscent of a European bazaar. Dining selections will include everything from sandwiches, wraps and salads, to Mexican, Asian, Italian and even Philly-style cuisine, with smaller pop-up stations offering fresh breads, fruits, cheeses, spices and oils.

Scheduled for Q4 of 2016, Borgata will be adding 25,000 sf of conference space to accommodate additional meetings and conventions. Still in the planning phase, the space will include two levels, boasting a 7,000-sf ballroom, four meeting rooms, one board room, one office and a prefunction area on each level.

Said Joe Lupo, Senior vice president of operations for Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa, “Our aggressive nature is such that, not only are we debuting a brand new nightclub, restaurant and outdoor pool, we are spending an additional $12.5 million in maintenance capital annually. I can confidently say that no one else in this market is making that type of commitment to its product.”

Included in the annual $12.5 million in property-wide disbursements is a refresh to both B Bar and Boot N’ Whip Racebook bar along with several fine and casual dining outlets, as well as $2.5 million dedicated to original and exclusive slot product.

Located in Atlantic City’s Marina District, Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa features 2,000 guest rooms and suites; 161,000 sf of gaming; 10 retail boutiques; five acclaimed fine dining restaurants by renowned chefs; nine casual dining options; a 54,000-sf spa; 70,000 sf of event space; four signature nightlife experiences; and parking for 7,100 cars.
