Sofitel Chicago Announces New Name

Sofitel Chicago Water Tower’s name has changed to Sofitel Chicago Magnificent Mile, effective immediately, to reflect the hotel’s key location just steps from Chicago’s iconic Michigan Avenue strip.

“We want visitors to be aware of our hotel’s convenient location,” said Sebastien Pfeiffer, general manager of Sofitel Chicago Magnificent Mile. “Steps from Chicago’s famed Magnificent Mile is a prime setting, and now it’s very clear to those searching for a place to stay that we’re in the heart of the most elite downtown destination.”

Almost 15 years ago, the arrival of Sofitel Chicago Magnificent Mile’s steel and glass structure caused an “immediate rustling of the landscape,” said its designer Jean-Paul Viguier. Viguier, a world renowned French architect, built an angular wonder that cut through the blocks of straight and perpendicular buildings filling Sofitel Chicago’s Gold Coast neighborhood. Chicago’s Magnificent Mile, along with Sofitel Chicago Magnificent Mile, is at the center of shopping, award-winning international cuisine, dynamic entertainment and stunning architecture.
